Camp 2012

July 11, 2012

Every Wednesday the garden becomes a place where Culinary Campers explore what it means to have a disability. Disability Awareness Day presents the kids with unique physical challenges designed to build awareness and empathy for individuals with a variety of disabilities. Willie, a member of paraquad, comes to visit the kids. He discusses disabilities with and gives campers the opportunity to navigate the uneven rocky surfaces in the garden. Other stations include weeding the garden with visual impairment goggles, harvesting vegetables with a leg brace, and learning to use adaptive cutting tools.
