Greetings from Culinary Camp!

It was a warm morning in the garden today, but we did not let that stop us from having a spectacular time harvesting. On Wednesdays during camp we harvest or gather the fully grown plants from the SLU Nutrition and Dietetics garden. Some of the plants we harvested were kohlrabi, turnips, and fresh herbs! All of these items that we picked will be sold on Friday at the Fresh Gatherings Harvest Market. Later that afternoon, we played a competitive game of crab soccer and finished up physical activity time with cooling down in the shade.

Once we were out of the heat, we headed straight for the kitchens. Today we spent the morning cooking Bo Ssam and ginger sauces for our sugar and salt rubbed pork as well as made our own peanut butter doggy treats. This afternoon we prepared Korean style BBQ tacos and a sweet street food called Hotteok. Hotteok is a Korean-style pancake filled with anything from fresh fruit spreads to a cinnamon sugar nut mixture. These mouthwatering treats will be served at the parent party on Friday so be sure to come hungry!
