Hip hip hooray, it’s field trip day!!!
This morning we road tripped out to one of the oldest organic farms in Missouri, EarthDance Farm. It was established in 1883 by the Mueller family and grows sustainable plants and foods that are available for purchase at farmer’s markets within the area. Campers learned about the history of farming and various agricultural practices that are environmentally friendly! They were even given a tour of the over 15 acre farm which included native garden beds, various herb and vegetable gardens, berry bushes, bee hives, and a natural composting area. We even were able to taste test some of the delicious sugar snap peas, herbs, and black raspberries that were freshly picked right off the plants they were growing on!!!
Once we returned from EarthDance, we headed back up into the SLU kitchens to work on the days recipes. While some kitchens were finishing up their sweet and savory tarts from Monday, other kitchens began working on their cured salmon and tea sandwiches. The votes have not been casted yet, but by the end of today we will definitely have a kitchen who will be pulling ahead for the lead in today’s Bocuse D’Or competition 🙂
