During disability awareness day campers spent time pulling weeds with vision impairment googles, soap spraying pests with leg splints on and peeling potatoes with arm splints. We learned how much time and effort it can take to adjust to life with a disability.

Michael from Paraquad came and talked about the amazing work Paraquad does in the community, as well as his own personal journey. From Michael we learned perseverance pays off as he told us about all the sports he has played, from basketball to rugby, since a car accident in his 20’s left him wheelchair bound.

We left today with a heightened understanding of what life can be like with a disability, while also enjoying the garden and some rare moments of sunlight!
